Dallas/Ft. Worth

Reflection

The Trinity River runs through downtown Dallas. But it only looks like this once every 20 years. I knew I had to get a distinctive and defining shot of Dallas because this picture won't exist for years and years. The crisp details of the evening are reflected in the water below.

Smooth Skyline

The Trinity River was at historic levels in June 2015. This called for a once-in-a-lifetime shot. The sky behind downtown Dallas had soft hues of pink and blue while the bright orange of a nascent sunset reflected off the west-facing buildings of downtown. I used special techniques to allow the camera's shutter to stay open for almost 7 minutes, smoothing out the water and reflecting the skyline softly and smoothly.

Courthouse

The Tarrant County Courthouse keeps watch over downtown Fort Worth. Amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown sits this classic design. We had to get high up for this shot, higher than any building would allow. We needed a helicopter to capture it!

Silver Skyline

Dallas has an iconic skyline, made only more so by the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. I was in a helicopter flying around downtown Dallas and had the pilot swing outside the bridge so I could capture the bridge's arch and use it as an anchor point for the rest of the image. Black and white images evoke a mindset of "the way things were" which I thought was a nice contrast to such a modern skyline.

Lightning Strikes Behind Downtown Dallas

It was a windy and stormy evening in Dallas with great cloud movement. Just after the sun set a purple glow illuminated the clouds behind the skyline. I was lucky to capture this shot just as a bolt of cloud-to-cloud lightning lit up the evening sky from one end of downtown to the other.
